Everton stars James Tarkowski and McNeil have revealed why the Merseysiders were able to beat Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.
It was Sean Dyche’s first Premier League game since he took over from Frank Lampard as Everton boss
Tarkowski’s second-half header was all the Toffees needed to hurt their visitors at Goodison Park.
The win took Everton out of the relegation zone to 17th position in the Premier League table.
And two of Dyche’s old accomplices – goal scorer Tarkowski and the energetic McNeil spoke to BT after the game.
“Hopefully this is a turning point for the season. We’ve got to get our heads down and crack on.
“We know how good they are as a team,” said McNeil.
“We’re a good team as well. We had the better chances, and luckily he got the header away and got us the much-needed three points today.”
Tarkowski got his first goal in Everton colours today and was quick to joke about needing more: “It took me a while! I need to score more, to be fair. A great time to do it and a great day. Back to work Monday.
“We’ve not had the grit, and that’s what the fans want to see. We have to do it every week.”
