Eric Mundy, a candidate in the October 24 municipal election for Brantford Ward 5, has passed away.
In a statement published on Tuesday, the City of Brantford said that Mundy passed away unexpectedly and expressed their sympathies to his family and friends.
The city claims that because Mundy’s name has already been put on the ballot, it cannot be changed at this point in the election process.
The statement continues by stating that the election will still go place for the remaining candidates because Mundy’s demise does not result in an acclamation for Ward 5 councillor slots.
