At her Minnesota home, Liv Ann Garfoot Nuckols passed away unexpectedly early on September 7, 2022.
Liv was raised in the little mountain town of Stehekin, Washington, after being born in Seattle. She spent her summers and holidays in Stehekin while attending high school in Manson, Washington. She attended Central Washington University, and after completing her studies there, she earned a business degree from William and Mary University in Williamsburg, Virginia, as well as a master’s degree in health care from Strayer University.
Throughout her summers in high school and college, Liv worked as a horseback guide in Stehekin, where she relished the independence and fun of living in a remote location. She had a deep love for all creatures, but she particularly connected with dogs and horses. Â Liv has 20 years of experience working in the medical field. Up until her death, she worked at United Health in Minneapolis as an executive. The affection and respect she received from her healthcare family cannot be adequately expressed in words. Her absence will be deeply felt. Liv will be remembered for a variety of qualities, including her sense of humor, her contagious smile, her brilliance, devotion, and her sense of compassion and fairness. Her fierce warrior spirit, which shone brightly in the defense of the truth and for the oppressed, will be remembered above everything else.
Her ultimate goal was to one day own and run a women’s shelter.
Her father, Papa Phillip Garfoot, died before Liv.
She is survived by her husband Howard Nuckols of Williamsburg, Virginia, stepdaughter Allyssa Nuckols of Sandston, Virginia, mother Wendy Garfoot of Stehekin, Washington, brother Brun (Mindy)Garfoot of Manson, Washington, nieces Leanna, Josie, and Makayla Garfoot, and nephew Ian Garfoot, all of Manson, Washington, as well as her dear friend Dale Berryman of Richmond, Virginia, and her cherished United Health care team
