The son of Rebecca Kaiser Clayton and Jerry Eugene Clayton, Nicholas Andrew Clayton was born in San Marcos, Texas, on November 27, 1989. In the early hours of October 1, 2022, he joined his heavenly father. Even though his time on earth was brief, he spent it serving his family, our country, and other people.
Nick was accepted to the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, where he studied there from 2008 to 2013, earning his Baccalaureate in Science – Chemistry. Following graduation, he was appointed a Logistic Readiness Officer at FE Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, by his uncle, Lt Col. Gregory Kaiser. By stature and example, he was a model leader. However, Captain Clayton left the Air Force in 2018 after feeling the urge to put his expertise of chemistry to use. He was working for Cemex as an environmental manager at the time.
Early in 2021, Nick met Deona Godwin, with whom he would later have a family of five. Being a father was a wonderful and undoubtedly happy shift for him. Their home is in Vinemont, Alabama.
During his formative years, Nicholas was a skilled athlete, winning the 2008 Alabama High School State Discus Champion title in Track and Field. He kept looking forward to his workouts with Zach, his brother and best buddy.
He loved everything mechanical and found rebuilding and rejuvenating items to be immensely satisfying. His 1994 2500 12 valve Dodge Ram diesel truck received the most attention during the overhaul. Every component was completely rebuilt both inside and out. He was ecstatic about it.
He enjoyed the outdoors and the mountains in particular. His preferred type of vacation was camping, and his leisure time was spent trekking and discovering new interests.
Nicholas had a beautiful soul and an extraordinarily brilliant mind, but he also battled.
His wife, Deona Michelle Clayton, his stepchildren Skyler (17), Autumn (16), and Liam (9), his dog and canine twin, Charles Brown, his parents, Jerry Eugene Clayton and Rebecca Kaiser Clayton, his brother Zachary Alan Clayton (Tara), nieces Rylie Grace (9) and Thea Faith (2), and a large number of aunts, uncles, and cousins all survive him.
