Over one thousand members of four political parties have defected to the All Progressives Congress in Yobe State.
The affected parties are the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP); Labour Party, (LP); New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP); and African Democratic Congress, (ADC).
Receiving the new entrants into the fold of APC in Potiskum town, Governor Mai Mala Buni represented by his Deputy Idi Barde Gubana assured them that they would be accorded equal rights with existing members, stressing that APC believes in one united Nigeria.
The Zonal Vice Chairman of the party, Baba Usman Arlaji, who congratulated the defectors, assured to carry the new members along in all the party’s activities, while also calling on members of other political parties to join the ruling APC in order to move the state forward.
The Director General, APC Campaign Council, Sen. Mohammed Hassan, (aka Dambu) represented by the Zonal Director Campaign Council, Prof. Bello Kawuwa, also urged the new members to sensitize their colleagues in their former parties to come out and vote for APC at all levels of the elections.
The new entrants through their leaders said joining APC wouldn’t have come at a better time than now.
