Sharon attended Waynesboro High School and graduated with the class of 1966. She was born and raised in the Waynesboro region. In the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro, she wed Stanley B. Riley, Jr., her high school sweetheart, on January 28, 1967. She and her husband spent their first eight years together on Ridge Avenue in Waynesboro before relocating to Burkett Road in Greencastle, where they raised their three kids and spent the following thirty years. They relocated to their current home in 2005.
Sharon, a devoted wife and mother, didn’t start working until her youngest son was a middle school student. At 17 years, Sharon worked as an account manager for Blaine Window Hardware in Hagerstown, Maryland. Her most satisfying job was as the activities director at Rose Manor Assisted Living in Waynesboro, where she worked for 4 years after working for Beltone Hearing Center. Even when she retired, these professions allowed her to see the elderly frequently.
The pride and joy of Sharon’s life were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending Christmas with her family the most. She cherished all of her animals, including Trixie, Tigger, Abbey, and Katie. She and her husband both enjoyed traveling, whether it was on cruises or on their numerous excursions to the West, frequently together with her sister and brother-in-law. Her favorite pastimes included going to lunch with the females at the Chambersburg Fitness Club, where she had a membership, and playing cards with her neighbors. She particularly loved the swim lessons there.
She belonged to the Heidelburg Church in Marion, Pennsylvania, and was actively involved in the women’s fellowship there. She was always eager to share her beliefs with new people.
She is survived by her children, the Rev. David B. Riley and his wife Melissa of Waynesboro, the Rev. Eric D. Riley and his wife Sharon of Waynesboro, and the Rev. Jason S. Riley and his fiancée Heidi Binnix of Waynesboro. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Amanda Riley, Aaron Riley, Conner Riley, Ashley Riley, and Sabrina Riley; a great-granddaughter, Isadora Grace Myers; a sister, Beverly A.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Kenneth E. Wagaman, Jr. and her grandson Colton Kauffman, who passed away in January 2019.
