It’s being said of a York Regional Police officer who died last week after colliding with an allegedly drunk driver that he was “so many things to so many people.”
Const. Travis Gillespie’s burial was held in Markham on Thursday, one day after that of a Toronto police officer killed in a shooting spree that affected the whole GTA.
The funeral home provided a webcast of the events and audio was pumped out into a media staging area, but Gillespie’s memorial ceremony was held privately for friends, colleagues, and family alone.
The roughly two-hour memorial service featured memories and reflections from those who remembered Gillespie as a devoted police officer, devoted partner, son, grandson, brother, and uncle.
